Security at The Anchorage

Purpose of this document:
To advise on security when visiting the Anchorage for official functions and informal use.
General statement of risk:
Risk of harm to club members following unauthorised opportunistic access to the Anchorage by third parties: risk of injury when opening and closing gates, doors and compounds.

Detailed information:
The gate padlock, security door padlock and main door lock are code-operated. The shed, storeroom and petrol store are locked and unlocked withkeys. The gas storage is secured by key padlocks. Boatswain contact number: 07410

Recommendations for safety/best practice:
Ensure that you are aware of the availability of keys/codes. On arrival, check that the general site is secure, with no signs of attempted/actual break-in. Take care when unlocking heavy gates and doors. Before leaving, check that all equipment and furniture is returned to its appointed place, that all storage buildings and compounds ar firmly locked, and that all keys are returned/retained. Ensure windows are closed/left as found, and that all doors and gates are locked.
What to do in an emergency or when Club action is needed:
First Aid kits are situated prominently inside the Anchorage together with a list of First Aiders. Operatives must be aware of the emergency, coastguard and ambulance calling procedure, also displayed prominently and highlighted in premises induction. Fire extinguishers and life buoys must be in position before commencement. At least one mobile phone should be available and in working order.
