The NRSC Committee met to discuss upcoming AGM arrangements, membership updates, infrastructure maintenance at the Anchorage, and strategic navigation issues.
Regarding AGM preparations, the committee identified vacancies for Commodore, Vice Commodore, Treasurer, and Secretary in the upcoming elections. Nominations would be appreciated and Club Secretary Monica will distribute a notice to all paid-up members requesting these ahead of the meeting date.
Regarding logistics, Maggi has confirmed the booking of the AGM at the Brick Kilns in Little Plumstead, with bespoke menu options prepared for members.
The Committee formally approved making Angela T an Honorary Member, for her many years of support to the Globe Trophy arrangements.
Overall membership has grown to 44 following the welcome addition of new members Alan and Linda F.
Katherine is preparing the end-of-year financial report, with completion expected by the end of September once all accounts are finalised for the period ending 30 September.
Malcolm reported significant soil loss around the boardwalk and quay headings at the Anchorage. The committee discussed various patching methods to mitigate seepage until permanent repairs can be made to the quay headings. Other maintenance requirements include repairing a strimmer and fixing planking on the south end of the Anchorage.
While concerns were raised about a sticking door potentially indicating subsidence, it was suggested this may simply be due to seasonal movement or rusted hardware rather than structural sinking.
The Commodore reported on his meeting with the Anchorage landowner, based on which it was agreed to continue the lease into 2027.
It was decided that the Commodore’s membership marketing strategy, rather than being activated this month, would be better delayed until March to target the start of the sailing season.
James offered to investigate the possibility of replacing the traditional calendar with a photographic "almanac" or brochure that includes the annual programme and a selection of photographs from the year. This would also be useful for marketing.
The Commodore provided updates from the Broads Authority’s Navigation Committee regarding bridge maintenance at Reedham and Carrow Road, as well as ongoing discussions concerning the North Quay development in Great Yarmouth.
